Gratitude

I can't believe that, in just under 3 months, we have gone from this--two nervous, bashful young adults on their first date

--to this:

A picture says a thousand words. This one says at least 1,001.
I love him and am blessed to call him mine. Our relationship is proof that Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves, and that His plans are grander than any that we could have conjured up for ourselves. Thank You, Lord.

Paciencia y Fe

A month ago today, things changed. We had both waited a long time, and we had both been hurt. But a month ago today we found out that:

 And this is all because:

And how unexpected that night was. On March 23, 2013, our individual plans
f e l l  a p a r t
and the intricate, loving details of God's plan brought us together.

We both walked into the dance hall separate; alone. But then it was time to find a partner, and we found each other
You held out your hand,

We danced; we spoke; you laughed (a kind laugh). And now I realize,

Gracias a Dios para ti. Te amo mucho, mi querido.

Tonight

Tonight, I am alone.

But maybe one day soon I won't be. I have everything in my life that I could possibly want, and I am so blessed. I lack nothing, except for someone to love. Really love, in that special way.

I've waited a long time for the right person to come along, and there have been a few gentlemen along the way that I thought might have worked out, but as of yet, no dice. And that's okay, cause I'll wait as long as I have to for the right one. My tune will no longer be one of loneliness, but of excitement and hope.

So, if you're out there, whoever you are, I have a lot to offer. And I can't wait to meet you.

Science & Faith

This is a slightly odd first entry for my blog, but these thoughts have been on my mind today, so I decided to write them down. Let me begin with a quote from Buddha:
"Believe nothing! Belief is a confession of ignorance! Therefore do not even believe what even I tell you! All I can do is to teach you to enlighten yourselves. Your first duty is to abolish your ignorance, and only you yourselves can do this."
When I first read this post, I was slightly appalled. I'm a big believer in many things:

  • God
  • Love
  • Compassion
  • Fairness
  • Miracles
And the list goes on; to read this quote and know that there are people who support (believe ) this idea is offensive to me.

But then I realized that, at least I think, Buddha used the wrong word here. He wasn't completely off--in some cases, people do choose blindly what to believe in without knowing what they are getting themselves into. But in no way can a blanket statement be made that belief=ignorance. That in itself is ignorant.

No, belief does not equate to ignorance, but to faith. Belief takes faith--strong faith. I think that both belief and faith are signs of strength. Neither are for the faint of heart. You must be prepared to support your beliefs  to those who try, sometimes relentlessly, to deconstruct them. Sometimes, however, the only support you can offer to those who do this is: faith.

Once that word is brought into the discussion, the antagonists whip out their science card. You see, I have found that people who want everything supported by science believe that faith is unreliable and foolish. They want proof of things that cannot be explained, such as God.

I am a Christian, and I believe in God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save humankind from sin. Naturally, there are people who do not share these beliefs--people who have tried for years to deter others from believing, and have tried to make such people feel foolish and ignorant.

These people ask for proof. "Can you prove that God exists?"

No. I can't. I have faith that He does, and I see the evidence of Him in more aspects of my life than you would understand even if I tried to explain to you. To me, this is enough.

I'm sorry if my faith is not enough for you but,

can you prove to me He doesn't exist?

To this, the antagonists might respond with: there's so much evil in the world, and there's scientific evidence that shows that the world was created by a big bang and...etc.

None of that is solid proof. Those are ideas that suggest evidence. One cannot prove that God does not exist.

It goes both ways.

People who do not believe in a higher power claim to believe in nothing, but really, they do. They believe in nothing. A lack of something. They have no proof to support such claims, so they must have faith that it is true.

To all those people who think faith is ignorant, please, stop bashing faith. You have it too, though you put all of yours in science. Then you call the rest of us fools for believing in something we can't see when the truth is, some things will never be proven. Even by you.

Faith will only become a satisfactory and comfortable support for your beliefs when you learn to trust it.

I have, and I don't need to prove my beliefs to anyone or feel foolish for my faith; though varied, it's something that we all have. So please, stop being so ignorant and learn some respect--respect for people of all beliefs. Faith is faith and does not need to be explained.
